Altus Group Celebrates Multiple Nominations at the TMAA Excellence Awards

10th January 2024

The Traffic Management Association of Australia (TMAA) Excellence Awards are the Oscars of the traffic management industry, and this year, Altus Group celebrates having nine nominations across multiple categories. These nominations reflect the hard work, innovation, and commitment to excellence that our team members demonstrate daily.

Firstly, we extend our congratulations to both Brian (Gus) Craig and Gerard O'Neill, each trainers with our CivilEdge RTO and each finalists for the Traffic Management Trainer of the Year Award. This recognition highlights their dedication and impact in enhancing road safety and shaping a safer future. Their expertise and commitment in the field of traffic management training for new and existing practitioners makes them ideal candidates for this award.

Well done also to Davud Karadag, one of our Traffic Diversions Group (TDG) superstar TCs, for being nominated for the Rising Star Traffic Controller Award. Davud has distinguished himself by showing exceptional promise and making a significant impact on the team at TDG. Davud's nomination is a nod to his outstanding potential and the impactful contributions he has made to our team and operations so far.

TDG has also been named a finalist for the Event of the Year Award, for the work that went into the Run for the Kids event in Melbourne in 2023. The execution of this event highlights the company’s commitment to community well-being and road safety. It's a project that not only demanded meticulous planning and execution but also reflected TDG’s core values of service and safety.

Altus Traffic is proud to announce Dwayne Hill's nomination as the TAS state finalist for Traffic Controller of the Year. Dwayne's interactions with the public, particularly his compassionate approach towards elderly and young pedestrians, have not gone unnoticed and his care for the communities in which we serve is a great demonstration of our company values.

Altus Traffic also has Sam Loprete nominated as South Australian finalist for Traffic Controller of the Year. Anyone who knows Sam, knows that he is unwaveringly positive and exceptional in the way he approaches his work. Sam again demonstrates key company values among both the public and his colleagues.

We are delighted to announce that Altus’ very own Steven (Bish) Bishop has been nominated as a finalist for the Operation Team Member of the Year. Bish's nomination reflects his excellence in managing in-field operations and the leadership he consistently demonstrates within the traffic management sector. Bish is loved by all within Altus Group and we’re all excited that he has been recognised for this coveted award category.

Our state finalist for Traffic Management Designer of the Year, Daniel McEwan, is a long-standing employee of Altus who has contributed significantly to the way the business operates, driving consistency in quality and compliance at a national level. Daniel is committed to uncovering new ways to improve road safety and traffic flow through safe and innovative design.

And lastly, we at Altus Traffic are humbly honoured to be named a finalist for the Traffic Management Company of the Year. This nomination is not just a reflection of our work but a testament to the importance of safety, innovation, and service in the traffic management industry. Being recognised in this category underscores our commitment to creating safer roads and stronger communities. It's a reminder that our efforts, rooted in the dedication and hard work of our team, truly make a difference. We are grateful for this acknowledgement and remain dedicated to prioritising the safety and well-being of our own staff and the communities in which they live and work.

Each nomination represents the individual and collective spirit of Altus Group—our passion for safety, our dedication to service, and our commitment to the community we serve. We are thrilled to celebrate these achievements and look forward to celebrating award recipients from all companies within the industry at the upcoming TMAA awards ceremony in March.
